The Liaison Officer Grade is a departmental grade of the Home Affairs Department. There are five ranks in the Grade : Principal Liaison Officer, Chief Liaison Officer, Senior Liaison Officer, Liaison Officer I and Liaison Officer II. There are around 400 Liaison Officers in the Grade. They are deployed to work in the 18 District Offices and Headquarters of the department.

Duties

bullet
establish and maintain an effective liaison network in the community ;

bullet
disseminate information and monitor community feedback on government policies and schemes;

bullet
organize government campaigns and support the District Councils in launching their activities;

bullet
form and provide service to mutual aid committees, owners' corporations, give advice to owners' committees and other building management bodies in promoting proper building management;

bullet
administer private oaths and declarations;

bullet
perform emergency liaison duties such as typhoon, cold-spell, flooding, fire, industrial accidents, etc; and

handle matter in the New Territories, including Tso and Tong, succession and trustee cases and Village Representatives Elections.
