SHA visits secondary school in Fanling (06.05.2009)

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, visited the Fanling Lutheran Secondary School in Fanling to learn more about the school's efforts in cultivating students' interest in arts and sports. Mr Tsang was pleased to learn of the launching of the "One Sports/Arts in Life" scheme to help students develop their lifelong interest in sports and arts.

Mr Tsang (right) appreciates the art works designed and created by students. During his visit, Mr Tsang was impressed to know that the school organised a wide range of extra-curricular activities to promote all-rounded development of the students. These activities included classes in music, sports and arts, as well as more than 40 academic, interest and social service clubs.

Tung Chung Community Services Complex officially opens (10.7.2009)

Social inclusion programmes for ethnic minorities in the district are organised by NGOs at the complex. A participant of such a programme is pictured introducing to Mr Tsang the activities organised there.

At the outdoor skateboarding venue in the complex, Mr Tsang enjoys a skateboarding performance presented by youngsters living in the district.

Mr Tsang enjoys a performance by a youngsters' band in the band room at the complex.


SHA visits halfway house in Wong Tai Sin (31.7.2009)

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, together with some 20 young people, visits a halfway house set up by the Operation Dawn Hong Kong in Wong Tai Sin. Mr Tsang listen to the sharing by the residents there, and is glad to learn of their determination to resist drugs and encourages them to adopt a positive attitude towards life. He also urges the young people who joined the visit to care more about their family and classmates and to help spread the anti-drug message.


SHA visits Wong Tai Sin District (27.8.2009)

In the Kowloon City Baptist Church Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, the Secretary for Home Affairs Mr Tsang Tak-sing sees how elderly women make decorative bead products.

An elderly aged over 80 years old in the elderly centre shows Mr Tsang his work on wood sculpture.

Mr Tsang tries out the body check facilities for youngsters at the "Fresh Express" Clinic for Youth at Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital.


SHA officiates at opening ceremony of celebration parade in Sha Tin (20.9.2009)

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, officiates at the opening ceremony of a grand parade in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in Sha Tin.


Grand parade in North District to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the PRC establishment (4.10.2009)

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, officiates at the opening ceremony of the Reunification Garden and kick-off ceremony for the grand parade in North District. The Reunification Garden was built to commemorate the historic moment on July 1, 1997 when the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison went past Jockey Club Road on its arrival in Hong Kong. Commemorative items including a plaque given to the garrison and sculptures of soldiers are displayed in the garden.

SHA visits community facilities in Tung Chung (18.11.2009)

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, tours the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council Tung Chung Integrated Services Centre in Yat Tung Estate.

Mr Tsang visits the Tung Chung Green Organic Farm, a social enterprise established by the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) of Hong Kong, to learn about its operation.
