Director of Home Affairs visits children in Tin Shui Wai (13.2.2009)

  • The Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan (second from right), visited the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Tin Shui Wai Centre at Tin Chak Estate, Tin Shui Wai, on February 13 to learn more about the facilities for youngsters in the district. Picture shows Mrs Tan and children attending an after-school study programme there making chocolates together.

  • Mrs Tan also distributed chocolates and candies to the children for sharing with their families and friends.

Sculpture Walk in Tin Shui Wai Park opens (09.05.2009)

  • The Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan, officiated at the opening ceremony cum carnival of Sculpture Walk in Tin Shui Wai Park, Yuen Long, on May 9 to unveil 10 sculpture exhibits.

    These 10 sculptures were created under the theme of environmental protection by artists around the world and presented to Yuen Long district. To introduce art to the community and enrich the cultural atmosphere in the district, Yuen Long District Council District Facilities Management Committee has installed a display stand, placards and lighting for the sculptures with funding from the District Minor Works Programme.

National Day Carnival at Victoria Park (1.10.2009)

  • The Home Affairs Department and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department jointly held a National Day Carnival at Victoria Park in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The Acting Chief Executive, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC (centre), officiates at the variety show of the carnival. Other officiating guests include the Acting Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui (third from right), Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan (second from right), Acting Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Grace Lui (first from left), Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services (Culture), Mr Chung Ling-hoi (first from right), and representatives of Central Government organisatons in Hong Kong.

  • The Home Affairs Department and the 18 District Offices jointly organised the 18 Districts National Day Bunting Design Competition in June. The winning design from each district has been produced as buntings to be mounted on lamp-posts in the main streets of the respective district. Ms Florence Hui and Mrs Pamela Tan are pictured with the winners of various districts.
