Donations for Sichuan Reconstruction
At a special meeting on July 18 2008, the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved the Government's proposal to inject $2 billion into the Trust Fund in Support of Reconstruction in the Sichuan Earthquake Stricken Areas, which is set up under the "Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated Ordinance".
The Trust Fund welcomes public donations to support the reconstruction work. Starting from July 21 2008, the 20 Public Enquiry Service Centres (PESCs) of the 18 District Offices and all post offices (except mobile post offices) will receive donations from citizens and organisations during office hours to support post-quake reconstruction work in Sichuan.
Means of Donations
Post-quake reconstruction is a colossal task lasting for at least several years. Donations may be made in the following manners:

Make the donations at any Public Enquiry Service Centres of the 18 District Offices and Post Offices (except mobile post offices).

Bank-in the donations into one of the following bank accounts namely 「SHAI – Donations for Sichuan Reconstruction」:

Issue of Receipts and Tax Exemption
Tax exemption may be granted to donations made for the purpose of supporting post-quake reconstruction work. Receipts issued by Home Affairs Department may be used for tax exemption purposes. Donors should contact the staff of PESC for a receipt if donations are to be made at PESCs. For donations made to Post Offices or the bank account of HSBC or BOC direct, we have prepared the attached receipt requisition form for completion by donors where necessary. The form should be returned to Headquarters (Attn. Finance Section) by post together with the original copy of the bank-in slip or the receipt issued by Post Offices.
