2004 provisional registers for Village Representative Elections available for inspection (10.9.2004)

The 2004 provisional registers and omissions list for the Village Representative Elections will be available for public inspection from today (September 10) until September 23.

Full copy of the provisional registers and omissions list can be inspected at the Electoral Registration Officer's (ERO) office located at the Home Affairs Department, 30th floor, Southorn Centre, 130 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Relevant sections of the provisional registers and omissions list can be inspected at the offices of the relevant Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AERO) located at the respective New Territories District Offices.

The names and relevant particulars of voters recorded in the Existing Villages register and the Indigenous Villages and Composite Indigenous Villages register will be available for public inspection. Particulars of people no longer eligible for registration as voters will be shown on the omissions list.

Anyone who considers a person not eligible for registration or who should not be placed in a particular part of a register may lodge a notice of objection with the ERO or the relevant AERO by 5pm on September 23, 2004. Objections must be lodged in person.

Any person who has applied for registration but whose name is not recorded in the provisional register(s) or is included in the omissions list; or has a claim to make about his or her particulars in the register(s) may lodge, in person, a notice of claim.

For those whose principal residential address is not in Hong Kong, they may also submit their notice of claim by post, fax, electronic means, or through a person authorised by them in writing.

Notice of claim must reach the ERO or the relevant AERO not later than 5pm, September 23, 2004 (Hong Kong time).

Forms of notice of claim and notice of objection are available for collection at the ERO's office and the relevant AERO's office at the New Territories District Offices. The forms can also be downloaded from the Village Representative Elections website: http://www.had.gov.hk/vre
