2011 Village Representative Election: Overall turnout rate (with photos)

The first polling day of 2011 Village Representative Election ended at 7pm today (January 2).

A total of 223 candidates from 71 villages contested for 115 seats, including 75 Indigenous Inhabitants Representatives (IIR) and 40 Resident Representatives (RR), in the IIR and RR Elections.

A total of 11,962 out of the 18,640 registered voters cast their votes, representing an overall turnout of 64.17 per cent.

The 2011 Village Representative Election starts today (January 2). The Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Raymond Young (second left), visits the polling station at Tai Hang Public School, Tai Hang Village, Tai Po. He was accompanied by Returning Officer Mr Ivan Lee (left). The Village Representative Election is being held on four consecutive Sundays from today, with more than 1,700 candidates participating in the polls.
