To support less privileged students in their preparing for the start of the new school term and alleviate their families’ financial burden, New Home Association, HKLAX Foundation and Dharma Light Buddhist Centre, with the support of the Yau Tsim Mong District Office, co-organised the ‘Happy Kids Back to School – Lacrosse Trial Day’ event, in which stationery sets and anti-epidemic items were provided to both Chinese and ethnic minority students of the district. Hong Kong Lacrosse Association also arranged a lacrosse workshop at the event, and even gave out lacrosse gears to participants, so as to help them cultivate an interest in sports and encourage them to develop a healthy lifestyle.

Yau Tsim Mong District Office held in mid-April its first Yau Tsim Mong District Multicultural Forum, where representatives of different ethnic groups, including African, Bangladeshi, Indian, Nepalese, Pakistani and Sri Lankan, were invited to share their everyday lives in the district.
The representatives all agreed with the District Office’s direction of promoting a more culturally inclusive Yau Tsim Mong District, while considering that collaboration on certain aspects should continue. At their suggestion, the District Office will invite other government departments to organise activities suitable for different ethnic groups at Yau Tsim Mong Multicultural Activity Centre (MAC).
At the forum, the District Office also summarised its enhanced efforts in providing information and assistance to ethnic minorities in areas such as epidemic prevention and fire safety over the past year, and mentioned that it will organise more community sports activities for all ethnic groups when the pandemic subsides.
