Welcome to Sha Tin! It is not only the most populated district in Hong Kong but also a district full of unique attractions.
Sha Tin is a versatile district where you can find not only a good mix of public and private housing, but also the harmonious coexistence of new towns and villages, past and future, city hustles and tranquil country parks. There are numerous attractions in Sha Tin - the charming Shing Mun River, scenic country parks and hiking trails, historic Tsang Tai Uk and Che Kung Temple, the newly established artistic City Art Square as well as a cluster of shopping arcades in the district. Last but not the least, the warm hospitality of our Sha Tin residents.

Profile (Sha Tin District)
Sha Tin is a first generation new town in Hong Kong. Its good town planning and comprehensive community facilities have made it an ideal place for living. Sha Tin is a vibrant, diversified and harmonious new town with a lot of merits and characteristics:
(1) Sha Tin has a population of 630 000 which comes first among 18 districts and will continue to be the most populated district for years to come.
(2) Shing Mun River and its promenade not only offer beautiful scenery, but also serve as a place for leisure, and recreational activities.
(3) Well-connected cycling tracks which extend to Tai Po and Sai Kung have made Sha Tin a popular place for cycling activities during holidays.
(4) Sha Tin Race Course is a great attraction for both Hong Kong people and tourists.
(5) Chicken congee, roasted pigeon and Shan Shui beancurd are famous cuisine in Sha Tin.
(6) There are plenty of sight-seeing spots in Sha Tin, such as Amah Rock, Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, Che Kuk Temple, Tsang Tai Uk, Tao Fung Shan and Lions Pavilion. Besides, its country parks and hiking trails offer picturesque scenery.
(7) Well-developed transportation network with a number of tunnels and highways is connecting Sha Tin with other parts of the New Territories and Kowloon. There are a total of 14 Mass Transit Railway stations within the district.
(8) Apart from a network of over 100 primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, international schools, Sha Tin also has vocational institutes and even a university.
(9) The district is well-equipped with recreational and sports facilities, like Sha Tin Town Hall, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, public libraries, parks, sports grounds, public swimming pools and indoor games halls.
(10) High-rise buildings of private and public housing co-exist with 48 villages that are full of rural charms.
